Assembly points: Willingham Green, 11 a.m. Sunday 12th June OR at the Guided Busway, Longstanton, at 11.10-ish.
Organiser: Paul Knighton, Willingham Wheels, p.knighton@runbox.com, 07787 530394

This year’s Bike Week theme is Ride to Work which proved so popular last year. Nearly 800,000 people cycle to work in the UK every day and, with your help, we’re aiming to swell that number by half-a-million in 2016.

Many people are motivated to start cycling during Bike Week thanks to all the fun and social events – let’s keep this going for 2016! For those who commute to work already, we are hosting the Bike Week Pledge and the ‘Bike Week Challenge’ where riders will be able to log their cycling miles, challenge friends and colleagues, and win prizes by cycle commuting. We’ve also teamed up with a number of partners, including the NSPCC, where we hope we can make a massive difference to vulnerable children and young people.

Whether you are organising a social or group ride, an event for your colleagues, a bike breakfast or a Dr Bike workshop, by registering it with Bike Week, you will be entitled to a whole host of FREE benefits:
* £10m public liability insurance
* NEW event and fundraising pack
* Website tools
* Event registration
* National publicity
* Promotional material

One of the most popular events to arrange for colleagues (or classmates) is a Bike Breakfast
It’s simple to host, cheap to put on and an excellent way to bring  people together.

Running for Fun in the Cottenham Fun Run 2016

Cottenham Fun Run 2016 which took place at Cottenham Village College and through Cottenham village on 7 May was a great success. It was the weekend of Twinning – when families from Avrille in France visited – and some took part in the race.

The schoolchildren set off first, 62 of them running the 1mile route round the back of the college. Later, the sun shone on the 112 runners (69 adults and 43 children) in the 7km race round the village.

There was a carnival atmosphere on the college green where stalls were set up by Fen Edge Community Association members: Cottenham Theatre Workshop, Cottenham Ladybird Pre-School, Cottenham Women’s Institute, Cottenham Gardening Club and Cottenham Community Centre.  Entry fees raised about £700. In due course this will be donated to Cottenham Primary School; they propose to purchase new library books.

Fen Edge Community Association would like to thank Martyn Leeks for organising the event and for Malary Ltd, waste recycling solutions, for its support through sponsorship.

The winners and runners up of the Cottenham Fun Run 2016 in all categories (Primary girl and boy; Village College girl and boy; Adult male and female; Veteran/45+ male and female) were:
