Cottenham Day Centre Christmas Lunch

Cottenham Day Centre provided a splendid Christmas Lunch at Cottenham Village Hall which was enjoyed by over 55 members. As well as the traditional Christmas meal guests were also entertained by The Beacon Choir from the Bluntisham area, and took part in a grand raffle. Maire Collins, Cottenham Day Centre Chair, thanked the Fen Edge Community Association for providing a £300 grant to fund the event. Maire also passed on her thanks to the many volunteers who keep the Day Centre running.

Cottenham Day Centre is open to elderly people residing in Cottenham and Rampton. The Centre is open every Tuesday and provides a hot meal – a lifeline to many – and refreshments. Members get to meet other people socially – for some members it is their only opportunity. The Day Centre provides transport by minibus for those members in need.

Cottenham Day Centre is run entirely by volunteers who help with meal preparation, serving, and clearing up and washing up afterwards. They are always keen to hear from those who can give some time (not necessarily the whole day, or every week). Our drivers are also volunteers who drive on a rota system, accompanied by an assistant to help people get on and off the minibus. The work is highly rewarding!
