The Fen Edge represents five villages almost immediately north of Cambridge England, and just south of the cathedral city of Ely - including Cottenham, whose Village College also serves the surrounding villages of Landbeach, Rampton, Waterbeach and Willingham. An area of rapid development and growth, it borders the Fens proper. It is characterised by broad skies and flat lands with productive agricultural areas. The region boasts strong ties with the cultural, scientific and intellectual powerhouse of Cambridge University and the surrounding hi-tech industry, sometime known as Silicon Fen.
